After dorking around Butler Park, I crossed Riverside to the Hike and Bike Trail along Town Lake and began my trek towards Barton Springs.
Went walk about (in an effort to get my FitBit steps in) on June 1st and took my camera with me. Started at Butler District Park next to the Long Center. The park also contains Doug Sahm Hill and the Liz Carpenter Fountain. A great view of downtown can be had from here.
Skyline pictures taken this evening driving through Zilker Park using my cell phone.
Just a quick welcome aboard to Horn Media Music. I don’t post a lot usually, and it’s not usually about music, but feel free to make yourself comfortable!
The Alamo Drafthouse and the Long Center got together for the Sound and Cinema series, a program of free movies paired with live music played on the front lawn of the Long Center. The kickoff show this year was Labyrinth with music provided by the Bowie cover band Magnifico. This show was lots of fun and drew way more people than expected.
Another piece I liked.
At the Blanton Museum of Art at the University of Texas. This was my favorite of a very small collection of art.
The City of Austin, Austin Parks and Recreation Department and the Beverly S. Sheffield Zilker Hillside Theater, in coordination with Austin Shakespeare Festival, presented William Shakespeare’s The Winter’s Tale, May 2-26, 2013, FREE to the public at the Zilker Hillside Theatre in Zilker Park, 2201 Barton Springs Road. This dark romance, fueled by the contrast between jealousy and joy, was set in Latin America, staged with tango (choreographed by Gustavo Semplis of Esquina Tango) and culminated in a Brazilian Carnaval with dancers and drummers from Austin Samba.
The Winter’s Tale is a fairy tale story of King Leontes, who becomes insanely jealous of his wife and best friend. In part two, the tale transforms into a comic country carnival with clowns and tricksters.
Austin dance companies Esquina Tango and Austin Samba, co-collaborators on the production invited the audience to learn some dance moves before the show
